The story behind Saga

Saga
ᚢ ᚱ ᚦ ᚨ ᛊ

The völva at the fire is a costume. Beneath it is a system built for one purpose: giving play-by-post communities the structure they deserve without turning their Discord server into a maze of channels.

Saga grew out of frustration — with servers that collapse under their own weight, with roleplay threads lost in the noise, with the question that never gets answered fast enough: "Wait, where is everyone?"

Why Saga exists

Play-by-post is one of the oldest forms of collaborative storytelling. It's patient, thoughtful, and deeply creative — and it has always struggled to find a home in tools built for real-time conversation.

Most PBP servers solve the structure problem the same way: one channel per location. The market gets a channel. The tavern gets a channel. The alley behind the smithy gets a channel. Ten locations becomes twenty channels, and the server starts to feel less like a world and more like a spreadsheet.

Saga takes a different approach. Zones are channels — broad areas of your world. Locations live inside Saga, not as channels, and scenes play out as threads. The channel list stays clean. The world stays as deep as you want it to be.
